Highlights included Fanfare for the Common Man by Aaron Copland, Dvorák’s 9th Symphony
(2nd movement), Delibes’ Flower Duet, a dash or two of John Williams and Samuel Barber’s
Adagio for Strings

Elgar's Nimrod and some inspiring 21st century compositions for a reflective stance on the Great War.

Sunday 16th July 2017 A Night at the Opera
At Matlock County Hall. A rich programme of opera and ballet music including selections from Le Cid (Massenet), Coppelia (Delibes), Romeo & Juliet (Prokofiev), Overture to La Forza del Destino (Verdi), Nessun Dorma (Puccini) and The Barber of Seville (Rossini).
Soloists Verity Quarmby and Peter Cain receiving gifts at the end of the concert.

and friend to Chesterfield Symphony Orchestra, Julian Clef.

Festive Fun at the Winding Wheel, a light-hearted selection of catchy tunes from all corners of the globe plus a goodbye to our outgoing conductor Andrew Hodkinson and a welcome to his replacement Jack Grime.
Saturday 9th July 2016 Summer Concert
Scandinavian Splendour was the theme of our summer concert at County Hall, Matlock. We enjoyed the dramatic themes of Sibelius’ Second Symphony and his renowned Finlandia work and also Norwegian composer, Grieg, in his Peer Gynt Suite, which included In the Hall of the Mountain King.
Sunday 20th March 2016 Spring Concert
Our Spring Concert celebrated English composers and included Delius’ Walk to the Paradise Garden and his Florida Suite, Walton’s stately Orb & Sceptre march, Arnold’s English Dances and to round it all off, Elgar’s rousing Pomp and Circumstance march.
Sunday 6th December 2015 Winter Concert
Our winter concert was 'A Night to Remember' at The Winding Wheel, Chesterfield.
An evening of evocative melodies and toe-tapping dance tunes including the melodic theme from The Mission (Gabriel’s Oboe by Ennio Morricone); the drama of Prokofiev’s Montagues and Capulets from Romeo and Juliet; the mystery of Khachaturian’s Masquerade Suite; and the Latin-American vibe of Danzon No. 2 by Márquez, plus the uplifting Chariots of Fire theme and beautiful music from The Lord of the Rings

Saturday 21st March 2015 Spring Concert

County Hall, Matlock our Spring concert included
Schubert's Symphony no.8 in B minor (‘Unfinished’),
Brahms' St Antoni Variations op 56a,
Dvorak's Scherzo from Symphony no.7
Mozart's Rondo from Horn Concerto no.4 and
Bizet's Carmen Suite no.1.
The conductor for this concert was George Morton.

Sunday 7 December 2014 December Concert
The December concert was at the Winding Wheel, Chesterfield and included
Butterworth's Banks of Green Willow,
Arutiunian's Trumpet Concerto with soloist Harry Jepson plus
film scores and light music.

Sunday 20th July 2014 Summer Concert
At County Hall, Matlock, in the Members' Room we played Schubert's Concert Overture in D 'In the Italian Style' D 589,
Brahms' Violin Concerto with soloist Martyn Lewis Jackson and
Schumann's Symphony No 3 (“Rhenish”)

Saturday 12th April 2014 Spring Concert
Our Spring concert was at Chesterfield Central Methodist Church and featured Beethoven's Egmont Overture,
Weber's Clarinet Concerto No 1 (featuring soloist Ben Simnett) and
Mendelssohn's Scottish Symphony.
